    The exercise will aim to show the integration between tanks including T-72, mechanised infantry including combat vehicles, artillery guns, army air defence, attack helicopters such as the armed Advanced Light Helicopter ‘Rudra’ and special forces. For the first time in an exercise, the K-9 Vajra self-propelled artillery gun, which was inducted into the army last November, is being used.

    The army’s Adjutant General Lieutenant General Ashwani Kumar explained that after women officers opt for a specialised stream under permanent commission, they will undergo training for the stream. During her second and third year of service, she will identify one of the six specialised streams for permanent commission. These include working as a language expert.

    The COSC comprising the chiefs of the army, air force and navy sent recommendations to the defence ministry on disability pension. One of the recommendations was “that income tax exemption should be given on the disability part of pension upto a certain limit,” according to Lt Gen Ashwani Kumar, the army’s Adjutant General, who deals with the matter.
