India has already opened its military training facilities, such as air force and artillery firing ranges, to Singapore’s armed forces because of the island city-state’s territorial limitations. The two countries have regularly held artillery exercises for over a decade.
The exercise will aim to show the integration between tanks including T-72, mechanised infantry including combat vehicles, artillery guns, army air defence, attack helicopters such as the armed Advanced Light Helicopter ‘Rudra’ and special forces. For the first time in an exercise, the K-9 Vajra self-propelled artillery gun, which was inducted into the army last November, is being used.
The Pakistan regiments were moved close to the Line of Control (LOC) following the abrogation of Article 370 (special status for the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir) on August 5. Officials said that Pakistan brought in heavy artillery guns keeping in mind that tensions at the border could grow after the move.
Some of the profiles are honey traps with fictitious identity of women. Two soldiers were apprehended by the Rajasthan Police on Tuesday for allegedly passing on confidential information after ‘falling into a honey trap’ by a Pakistani woman. Other profiles deal with fake lottery schemes and those indulging in blackmailing.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will discuss the Agreement on Reciprocal Logistics Support (ARLS) with his Russian counterpart General Sergei Shoigu during the 19th India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military and Military Technical Cooperation on November 6, officials said. Singh will be on a visit to Russia from November 5 to 7.
The army believes that allowing homosexuality and adultery will break the fabric that binds it together and effect its teamwork spirit, which will damage the outcome of its combat related tasks. Officials explained this is especially crucial for cases such as the wife of a soldier posted in a remote area, having an affair with his co-soldier.
The army’s Adjutant General Lieutenant General Ashwani Kumar explained that after women officers opt for a specialised stream under permanent commission, they will undergo training for the stream. During her second and third year of service, she will identify one of the six specialised streams for permanent commission. These include working as a language expert.
The COSC comprising the chiefs of the army, air force and navy sent recommendations to the defence ministry on disability pension. One of the recommendations was “that income tax exemption should be given on the disability part of pension upto a certain limit,” according to Lt Gen Ashwani Kumar, the army’s Adjutant General, who deals with the matter.
ndia and Uzbekistan are also set to carry out a joint military exercise next week. ‘Dustlik-2019’, the first such exercise between the armies.
The Indian Army has recently held a discussion with NTRO on how to bring a secure network in the region through mobile and microwave towers. Currently, the Indian side along the border automatically picks up a Chinese network in the area.
