    While the auto industry is seeing a massive dip in sales like other sectors due to the pandemic and the lockdown, the SUV segment has surprisingly seen a 14 per cent growth this year. As per reports, the SUV segment commanded a 39% share in the total sales of passenger vehicles this July. Here are the top 5 SUVs sold during the lockdown period (April-July 2020).

    Hyundai Creta: Hyundai Creta has recently crossed five lakh cumulative sales mark in the domestic market. The model also remains the best-selling SUV for three consecutive months of May, June and July this year. During the lockdown period, Hyundai managed to sell 21,968 units of the SUV. Its new version has received over 65,000 bookings since its launch in March 2020.

    ​Kia Seltos

    It had a dream run in the Indian market. In July it crossed the 1-lakh sales milestone within just 11 months. Priced Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the Seltos was the second most popular SUV in the country - 16,995 units of it were sold during the lockdown period.

    It would have been a surprise had this been not in this list. Maruti is the most trusted car brand in India. It was one of the popular models even though it comes in petrol model only. During the said period, 14,180 units of Brezza were sold. This compact SUV has a price tag of Rs 7.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

    With 12,105 units sold, Venue has grabbed the fourth slot in the list. At an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.69 lakh, this is also the most affordable in the list. In July, the company had launched Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) equipped version of the compact SUV.

    4,526 units of MG Hector were sold out during the lockdown period. The SUV has a price tag of Rs 12.18 lakh (ex-showroom). MG has recently brought a new version of the SUV, MG Hector Plus, last month and claims that it is seeing encouraging traction for its top trims across markets.
