Kolkata: Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi has sold over five lakh televisions in the country in the current festive sales across online and offline stores.

The company said it achieved this record in just 24 days from Navratri this year across sales platforms like its own e-commerce store mi.com, Flipkart, Amazon and all offline channels.

Xiaomi said its Mi TV is the highest-selling TV on Amazon and Flipkart this festive season. Xiaomi had ventured into the television market in India last year.

Xiaomi India category lead (TV) Eshwar Nilakantan said it is the first brand to achieve this sales milestone in India in less than a month.

"Our smart TV business was born in 2018 and it has flourished well in India. In a short span of three months since inception, we became the number one smart TV brand in India and have continued our streak for five consecutive quarters," he said.

Xiaomi is the country's largest smartphone maker and claims to be the largest smart TV brand as well citing IDC data. The company currently locally assembles almost 85% of the televisions it sells in India.

Several smartphone makers are now entering the smart television market in India such as Lenovo-owned Motorola and OnePlus.
