ReNew Power Ventures appoints Ajay K Goel as President of solar and new businesses

NEW DELHI: ReNew Power Ventures has appointed Ajay K Goel, former CEO of Tata Power Solar, as president, solar and chief new businesses.

Goel will be responsible for building new businesses on the distributed side of the solar sector, focusing on commercial, industrial and residential segments, a company statement said on May 19.

At Tata Power Solar, Goel revived the company’s cell and module manufacturing business, and led the company towards central and distributed generation. He has 20 years’ experience in the United States with leading firms including SunEdison, Brightsource Energy and McKinsey.

Commenting on the appointment, Gurgaon-based ReNew Power’s chairman and CEO Sumant Sinha said, “As a company, ReNew Power is committed to providing value by innovating and expanding to new verticals that suit the India market. I am delighted that an industry veteran of the stature of Ajay joins us at this crucial juncture to drive some of the growth initiatives that will enable us to cement our position as the leading clean energy solutions provider in India. It further reaffirms our commitment to meeting the ever-expanding energy needs of the country.”

Goel is an electrical and computer software engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and holds an MBA from the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business.

Meanwhile, Tata Power Solar has appointed Ashish Khanna as the new executive director and CEO. Khanna had joined the Tata Group in 2007.
