As private labs opened up for Covid-19 testing, here is an explainer which answers all the questions you might have.

Any of the 29 labs registered with The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). (Refer to www.icmr.nic.in for the entire list)

Six labs in Mumbai, one each in Pune, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Seven in the NCR region.

Note: The labs will test you only if you have a prescription from a registered medical practitioner with their registration and phone numbers.

​Who should get tested?

​Who should get tested?

Asymptomatic individuals who have undertaken international travel in the last 14 days if they develop fever, cough, difficulty in breathing. Family members should also get tested if they have symptoms.

All symptomatic contacts of laboratory-confirmed cases.

All symptomatic healthcare workers.

All hospitalized patients with severe acute respiratory illness (fever and cough and/or shortness of breath).

Asymptomatic direct and highrisk contacts of a confirmed case should be tested once between day 5 and day 14 of the individual coming in contact.
