Synopsis

Due to the supply shortage, iron ore prices have shot up around 35% since April. This is because of low production and no dispatch by the miners, an executive at another company said.

Mumbai: India's secondary steel producers, who account for 55% of steel production in the country, are facing glitches in the supply of iron ore, even as some companies have started ramping up production in July to nearly 100%.Since March, iron ore output in Odisha, one of the largest producers, has been low as production has not yet resumed in mines where the leases have been transferred earlier this year.
