Chatwal Group bets big on lifestyle business hotels
The company plan to roll out 52 hotels across New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur and Udaipur with a total investment of Rs 2,000 crore.
BANAGLORE: New York-based hotelier, Sant Chatwal, plans to be leader in lifestyle hotel segment in India in the next five years.
"We will partner with Wyndham Group and builders to set up hotels in the country. We will become a market leader in this segment after rolling out 400 proposed hotels properties," said Chairman and CEO Hampshire Hotels and Resorts Sant Singh Chatwal.
The hotelier has already signed properties for 18 hotels across India, two of which will be set up in Bangalore. The company plan to roll out 52 hotels across New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur and Udaipur with a total investment of Rs 2,000 crore.
"We will follow assets light model by managing the airport and will invest equity wherever the builder is in need of it," said Chatwal.
Of the total number of planned hotels 40 will be under the 'Night' brand, a mid-segment boutique hotel in the lifestyle segment and remaining 12 will be called 'Dream' hotels, a full service luxury hotel brand.
"We have picked up 26% equity in 4 properties and 49% equity in the remaining two," he said.
Besides bringing in the 'Dream' and 'Night' brands in the IT capital, Hampshire Hotels and Resorts also plans to launch its seven-star luxury brand 'The Chatwal' in India. The company currently has only two in such properties in US.
