Hotels come out with special offers, promotions for peak holiday season

Hotel chains contacted by ET said the offers are for the peak season and aimed at boosting occupancy, getting more people to sign on to loyalty programmes, and improving recall and positioning of existing brands.
French multinational hotel chain Accor is running the ‘starting from’ offer for Kolkata, Bengaluru and Mumbai, where prices for rooms start from as low as Rs 2,799 if customers book hotel rooms in these cities till December 31 for stay valid till the same date.
The chain is also running a similar campaign for Hyderabad, Delhi and Goa.
“While we do host promotions at frequent intervals to increase our customer base and enrol new clients and increase our loyalty member base, we have been more aggressive in 2019 with certain promotions that were unique to the Accor portfolio,” the company said in an email reply to ET’s query. “This included ‘day stays’ promotion where people can book a room for the day at a whopping 60% off, and a flash sale for our 20 Novotel hotels in India to promote the brand portfolio which is spread across 15 cities.”
Marriott International, which had not floated any offers last year, is running two corporate offer campaigns — the ‘It’s on us Fairfield credit offer’ valid until December 31 across 14 Fairfield hotels, and the ‘weekends at Marriott offer’, which is valid till December 15 in 27 Marriott properties in India.
Inclusions vary for each participating hotel in Marriott’s staycation offer, but they include services like all three meals at an all-day dining restaurant, early check-in and late check out, and free stay for children below 12 years.
Marriott said the campaigns are focused on its brands and not the destinations, and that the Fairfield offer aims to uplift the brand in ‘entirety’ and position it as a premium budget brand in India.
Mandeep Lamba, president, South Asia, at HVS Anarock, said hotel chains usually run promotions and campaigns for key markets where occupancies are not rising to expected levels and to get more members to their loyalty programmes.
Arif Patel, regional VP, sales and marketing, at Hyatt India, said the offers announced this year at Hyatt have been designed keeping in mind the influx for the same requirements last year.
Hilton Honors members looking to book Hilton hotels from December 3 till January 12 for stay from December 6 till the end of September next year will get discounts of 25%, while regular customers are eligible for discounts up to 20%. The discounts apply on most “managed” Hilton hotels in India, the company said.
