Amazon Echo Show
You can browse through your Facebook photos, watch video recipes and make video calls.
Price: Rs 22999
Rating: ****1/2

This is the second generation Echo Show but the first to come to India. If you’re familiar with Amazon’s Echo range of smart speakers, it works in the same way. For far field voice control, there are 8 microphones on it. Audio quality is loud and bassy, thanks to the dual 2-inch neodymium drivers and passive bass radiator. But the crowning glory of the Echo Show is the massive 10.1-inch HD touchscreen. It looks like a tablet with a large speaker tacked on. It’s not portable though — 1.8kg and no battery.

It may have a touchscreen to ‘show’ you things but is still designed as a voice-first device — one that’s meant to be shared by a family. So what can you do with a large touchscreen on an Echo? For starters, it gives you a visual response to your queries in addition to voice. You can see album art and lyrics while playing music.

On The Way To World Domination

21 Sep, 2018
Amazon caused a few gasps at its Alexa event Thursday when it revealed it had 70 things to announce. The new products give Amazon a greater reach than ever before. Updates to the internet giant's Alexa-infused Echo smart speakers will allow them to tend to microwave cooking and even have "hunches" regarding what users may want or have forgotten. Alexa is even developing a personality, complete with a favorite pet or beer. Here's a round up all of the Alexa-infused products Amazon showcased, including speakers, an in-car device and, a microwave:

You can browse through your Facebook photos, watch video recipes and make video calls. It can be a touch panel to operate your smart home products (it has a built in smart home hub too). It can show you a live feed from compatible home security cameras (the Mi Home Security cameras work great). You can purchase products from Amazon, make shopping lists and set reminders.

It has a web browser that you can use to access the web or play YouTube videos. And you get access to the entire video library from Prime Video. The experience is great though some might find it a tad too expensive. As with any Echo, you can add myriad capabilities using skills but we wish the screen was higher resolution (it’s 1280 x 800 pixels) and that it had support for more streaming video providers. It’s still the only one of it’s kind in India and worth getting if you’re invested in the smart ecosystem.
