    Army Day wishes pour in: Akshay Kumar plays volleyball with soldiers, Mahindra praises strength of armed forces

    Synopsis

    Sachin Tendulkar lauded the armed forces.

    The Army Day, observed to honour the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, was celebrated by the B-town stars, sports personalities and bosses of Corporate India.

    The day is celebrated on January 15 every year, in recognition of Field Marshal KM Cariappa's taking over as from the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, General Sir Francis Butcher on 15 January 1949.

    Appreciating the Indian Army, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said its strength is directly proportionate to the emotional and moral support of the citizens of the nation. In a Twitter post, the 65-year-old praised the soldiers for putting their lives on the line every day so the people of the country can live their lives.


    Bollywood star Akshay Kumar led the Army Day posts from the Indian film fraternity by sharing a short video clip of his volleyball session with the Army officials on social media. In a short note, the 'Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty' actor revealed that the volleyball match was a part of the warm up for the marathon he had participated in on Friday.


    Taking a trip down the memory lane, actor Sanjay Dutt on Friday shared a throwback. black-and-white picture from the sets of his war film 'LOC: Kargil War'. "Saluting the courage and bravery of our Indian Army who has always stood strong, even in the most unfavorable conditions," he wrote.


    Actor Ajay Devgn thanked the soldiers as they helped India become brave and self-reliant.


    'Ek Villain' star praised the soldiers for sacrificing their comfort and selflessly follow their duty. "I salute you and your families who's silent contribution for the country can never be forgotten," he wrote.


    From the sports fraternity, Sachin Tendulkar wished a happy Army Day to all the Indian Army personnel and their families.


    Sharing the same image, cricketer Shikhar Dhawan saluted the armed forces for their service to the nation, and cricketer-turned-MP Gautam Gambhir said that people of the nation can sleep peacefully because they are awake.



    Cricketer KL Rahul said that the sacrifice of the armed forces for the nation will never forgotten.

    Team India player Rishabh Pant showed his gratitude to the armed forces and their innumerable sacrifices.
