On Tuesday, actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to explain why the construction of Metro is the need of the hour for the big city, which seemingly tried to justify the felling of thousands of trees.
Two days after actor Amitabh Bachchan tweeted in favour of the construction of Mumbai Metro, the actor saw himself in the red zone of green activists who landed up outside his Juhu residence, 'Jalsa'. The Metro project requires the felling of over 2600 trees in the Aarey forest, and can take a serious toll on the pollution situation in the city.

In his tweet, the 'Badla' actor said that construction of Metro will be in favour of the residents. He later said that as a 'solution for pollution' people can plant more trees in their garden.

"Friend of mine had a medical emergency, decided to take METRO instead of his car...came back very impressed..said was faster, convenient and most efficient..Solution for Pollution..Grow more trees..I did in my garden.. have you," he wrote.

However, the activists begged to differ with Senior Bachchan and led a protest outside his house with placards saying, 'Gardens don't make forests'.

Environment activist Zoru Bhathena, who earlier filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against the project, took to Twitter to request Bachchan to visit the Aarey forest and understand the ground reality.

Earlier on Thursday, actor Akshay Kumar tweeted a video of himself in the Metro which helped him cover a distance of 2 hours within only 20 minutes. The actor promoted the project and said that it beats traffic, cuts short travel time and is a fun ride as well.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, actress Mouni Roy seemed distressed with the poor management of Mumbai Metro officials. In the now-deleted post, the 'Gold' actress shared her ordeal when she was on her way to work in Juhu and a huge rock fell on her car. An upset Roy took to social media to ask what could have happened if it wasn't her car passing by but a person walking on the road.
