Get it for: Rs 34,500
Highlight: 11 levels of noise-cancellation

With a new design and improved noise-cancellation technology, Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 aim to catch the fancy of high-end buyers. But are they worth the price? We used them for a while to find out.

Bose has upped the ante on competition with a sleek design that features a seamless metal band that leads to two arms that slide outside of the ear cups. This is a handy design element since it enables easy height adjustment. The soft-touch silicone pads are also a shade better than the one used in Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II. However, one drawback we felt is that these headphones do not fold, which means carrying them is a hassle. In terms of comfort, headphones 700 are snug and comfortable for extended periods but do feel a tad heavy. Thus, a sense of fatigue does set in if one uses them for more than a couple of hours at stretch.

There are two buttons on the right — one for power and pairing and another to activate Siri, Alexa or Google Assistant. The button on the left ear is for setting noise-cancelling levels. Bose has given touch controls that work like a charm. A simple tap on the logo on the right ear cup activates play and pause functions. One can swipe forward or backwards to change tracks or adjust volumes. Touch controls aren’t new but Bose has done a sound job with these headphones.

There were no connectivity issues as the headphones support Bluetooth 5 and we were easily able to connect them with iPhones, Android phones, iPad and even laptops.

Noise-cancellation on the new Bose headphones spear peerless. With 11 levels to choose from, these headphones do a near-flawless job of blocking noise. You could be in the cacophony of a local train or the Metro and not a peep goes through. Eleven levels of noise-cancellation mean if you’re in the office and want to hear the chatter around you, then you can adjust the level accordingly.

Headphones 700, with 20 hours of battery life, deliver balanced audio and excellent clarity. It can handle almost every music genre with ease. The vocals are separated nicely from the instruments and every note sounds like music to your ears, literally.
