NEW DELHI: India is expected to have healthier future, thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's nationwide 'Fit India' Movement.

Various Bollywood celebrities and sports personalities hailed PM Modi's initiative, and shared their #FitIndiaMovement moments on Twitter.

While former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar backed the movement by playing carrom board with senior citizens at an old age home, cricketer Hardik Pandya said that sports has been one of the biggest teachers in his life.

Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir also thanked PM Modi for launching the movement.

Shilpa Shetty, who is a fitness enthusiast and now a part of PM Modi's Fit India Committee - headed by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, also expressed pride in being a part of the campaign.

While victory or defeat is a part of life, badminton star PV Sindhu - who is currently riding high after being named the first Indian to win a gold medal at the BWF World Championships in Switzerland - said that being mentally and physically fit is the most important aspect.

Sprinter Hima Das, who made India proud last month after winning five medals in races across Europe, also took to Twitter to promote the initiative.

Boxer Mary Kom also posted a 29-second video of her celebrating the launch of the movement.
