'Frozen 2' shines at Indian BO, earns Rs 19 cr in opening weekend

The film comes 6 years after the original won hearts around the world.

The second installment of Disney's hit 'Frozen' has captured hearts once again, raking in over Rs 19 crore in its opening weekend at the Indian box office.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the details of the earnings of the film, in a post on Twitter.

"#Frozen2 is a success... Goes from strength to strength... Emerges big fav of kids/families... Crosses *lifetime biz* of #Frozen [Rs 2.8 cr] on *Day 1* itself... Fri 3.35 cr, Sat 7.10 cr, Sun 8.65 cr. Total: Rs 19.10 cr Nett BOC. #India biz. All versions. Gross BOC: Rs 22.74 cr."


The animated film, directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, has voice-overs by Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, Sterling K Brown, Evan Rachel Wood, Alfred Molina and Martha Plimpton. The Hindi version of the movie features sisters Priyanka and Parineeti Chopra as Elsa and Anna.

The sequel of the 2013-blockbuster hit released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Set in fantastical land of Arendelle, 'Frozen' is a story of two sisters Elsa and Anna who are on a path of finding acceptance and love, while trying to save their kingdom infused with heart-touching music and emotions. Released 6 years after the original film, the sisters' chemistry picks up exactly where it left off.
