It's a double celebration for Sussanne Khan
She plans to have a private celebration for her b'day and Asia's Most Influential Designer Award for The Charcoal Project.
Khan adds that she has not had a big celebration as yet, but that she plans to soon. “I am going to celebrate with all my near and dear ones, at the time of my birthday which is 26th October.” Khan, who says her design is a mix of “quiet luxury and edgy shabby chic,” says that her main source of inspiration is humans.
“My main source of inspiration is human emotion; I design to create a vibe that makes one feel energised as they walk into a space. Through different ages of my life, my inspiration seems to have drifted from objects, more towards feelings, and what equation does my design have in relation to an emotion, eg like serenity, or exhilaration. Another point of inspiration comes from the ‘flora and fauna’ in the universe, the extent of forms, shapes and colours in nature can be deeply stirring for me, it makes me flow with thoughts,” she explains.
Khan, who is a working mother, makes sure she makes the most of her time, and starts her day early to get the most done. “I am my most creative in the morning. My days start very early - 6.30 am mornings are the best!” For Khan, “a fulfilled week with responsibilities, workouts and creativity interlinked,” is one of the things she looks forward to the most. And with this being her birthday week, we hope she gets her wish as she blows out her candles.
