Jyotsna Suri felicitated for strengthening Indo-Japan ties

A glittering ceremony was hosted in Delhi by the Ambassador of Japan to India, Suzuki Satoshi, this week to felicitate Jyotsna Suri, chairperson & MD Bharat Hotels Limited. It was an occasion to celebrate Suri’s receipt of the ‘Order of the Rising Sun’, Gold and Silver Star at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo last November.

Onkar S Kanwar, chairman, Apollo Tyres and Baba Kalyani, CMD, Bharat Forge have also been conferred upon with the Order in the past.

The reception in Delhi was attended by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as other guests, representing the Indian public and private sectors.

Suri, a former President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), was conferred with the order for her “outstanding contribution to strengthening Japan-India economic relations and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.”

Ambassador Suzuki, in his congratulatory remarks, acknowledged Suri’s service as the President of FICCI and Chairperson of FICCI Tourism Committee, as well as the Co-Chair of FICCI Forum of Parliamentarians, enhancing Japan-India economic relations and organizing Japan –India Tourism Summit.

Suri, in return, expressed her gratitude to the Government of Japan for this Decoration and said she feels great responsibility with this award. However, she also said this award encourages her to strengthen the already robust Japan-India relationship further.
