Some people go online to make friends and meet new people. But sometimes, things just click in the offline world when you least expect it. Designer Kresha Bajaj was on the hunt for vintage jewellery when she said she stumbled into a store and made a friend for life. While Bajaj was studying at Parsons School of Design, known colloquially as Parsons in New York City, part of her downtime included walking through the city and exploring the different antique hot spots.

She recalls, “One day while I was at the Antique Showplace in New York, walking up the steps to Marlene Wetherall, this little store caught my eye. It was covered in the most beautiful vintage jewels I had ever seen.” On entering the store called Sherri’s Vintage, she met Sherri, the owner. “As soon as she realised my love and knowledge of vintage jewellery she started opening her boxes of pieces she had collected over the years,” Bajaj shares.

And a connection was made. Now, Sherri’s Vintage and meeting Sherri is a part of Bajaj’s to-do list every time she is in New York. “Every time when I went back to New York, I kept going back to add new pieces to my collection. Eventually going back and meeting Sherri became like going to see an old friend and I there was not trip to New York that was complete if I didn't,” Bajaj says.

Remembering Karl

1 Oct, 2019
A few months ago, the Karl Lagerfeld house announced the launch of 'A Tribute to Karl: The White Shirt Project' to honour his memory and legacy. From Cara Delevingne, Alessandro Michele, Sébastien Jondeau to Kate Moss, Diane Kruger and Helen Mirren, dozens of celebrities, artists and personalities who were close to the designer came together to create their own interpretations of one of Lagerfeld's most cherished basics – the white shirt.Lagerfeld had once said, “If you ask me what I’d most like to have invented in fashion, I’d say the white shirt. For me, the white shirt is the basis of everything. Everything else comes after.” All of the reimagined white shirts were unveiled at Paris Fashion Week on September 25. Here are some of the designs that caught our eye.
