AIB had earlier acknowledged in a Facebook post that Tanmay Bhat, one of the founding members of the group, knew about the allegations against comedian Utsav Chakraborty.
After Bollywood and other fields of media, the #MeToo campaign has hit comedy group AIB. Tanmay Bhat, one of its chief comedians, will "step away" from association with the group, a release put out by it said.

The note from the AIB's official Twitter handle, was attributed to its Human Resources Head, Vidhi Jotwani. The note read that the company was "closely monitoring the sequence of events on social around the allegations against AIB and also against our co-founder and CEO Tanmay Bhat."

Jotwani's note read that Tanmay's role couldn't be overlooked and in light of this, he will be stepping away from AIB until further notice. He would not be a part of the daily operations of the band any more, till further communication was sent out.

AIB announced the news via a statement on Twitter

The note also said that the organisation had decided to place one of the other co-founders, Gursimran Khamba, on a "temporary leave of absence." Action against Khamba comes in the wake of allegations on social media by a woman who claimed that he had misbehaved with her. Khamba has also been accused of making drunk calls, and emotionally blackmailing and abusing her for not reciprocating his advances.

Utsav Chakraborty, ex-comedian from AIB, was also accused of sexual harassment towards women on social media recently. In response to this, the group delisted any video from the former member.

When a woman stepped out to speak against Chakraborty, a row of similar allegations followed.
