    Michelin star chef Garima Arora wants to change the narrative about Indian food

    Synopsis

    The chef believes people should visit India to sample the cuisine for themselves.

    Garima Arora said that there is a lot of curiosity about Indian food around the world.
    Garima Arora, India’s first woman chef to have won a Michelin star, is on a mission: She wants to educate the West that there is more to Indian cuisine than naan and curry. To this end, she has started a not-for-profit initiative that would explore ways to reinvent Indian cuisine.

    Speaking to a news website recently, she said there is a lot of curiosity about Indian food. “Indian-origin chefs working around the world have begun experimenting,” she said.

    The next challenge, however, is to get people to visit India and sample the cuisine for themselves. “Instead of us taking it to them, we need people to come to India, understand and explore our cuisine. The idea is to change the narrative about Indian food,” she said.
