After spending more than a decade in the sport, Button is still considered to be one of the racers who enjoyed his life in the fast lane off as well as on the track. During his early days, he was often thought of as spending more time holidaying on yachts and hanging out with models than focusing on racing. And Formula 1’s one time playboy doesn’t plan on slowing down, enjoying the luxe lifestyle with his new girlfriend and Playboy model Brittny Ward in his opulent mansion in Monaco and £5 million sprawling five-bedroom pad in Los Angeles.(Image: Instagram/jensonbutton_22)

We are into the second round of the 2019 Formula One World Championship. Check out what you can expect at the 999th race in the history of the Grand Prix.

The venue used to be the site of a camel farm. The 5.4 km track was designed on a sandy canvas by German circuit designer Hermann Tilke and known for having provided some great racing and entertainment spectacle over the years.

Featuring five different layouts, the circuit first came to life in 2004 when the first Formula 1 Grand Prix took place in the country, making it the first-ever track in West Asia to host the Formula 1 World Championship.

This weekend’s race is the 15th edition at the Bahrain International Circuit. It is the sixth time 20 drivers will be charging for pole position under the floodlights as a day-night event. It has a mix of 15 slow and medium speed corners and long straights.

The circuit offers many overtaking opportunities and we can expect a lot of wheel-to-wheel racing. The track’s most challenging point is the tight Turn 10 left-hander. The track has an abrasive surface.

While Valtteri Bottas in a Mercedes will take off with confidence following his win at the Australian Grand Prix, his world champion team-mate Lewis Hamilton is also in good form.

All eyes will be on Sebastian Vettel, who will be aiming for his third consecutive pole position at Bahrain Grand Prix as Ferrari seeks to show its lack of pace at the Australian season-opener as a one-off.

Lewis Hamilton has won twice in Bahrain, Vettel won three times, including the last two. No driver has won three times in a row at this circuit. Ferrari won six times at the desert track, Mercedes three. Red Bull can be the dark horse for a podium in Bahrain.

Mick Schumacher, son of seven-times world champion Michael, will make his test debut for Ferrari and Alfa Romeo at the Bahrain International Circuit on April 2 after the Grand Prix here.

Aside from Formula 1, the weekend’s programme includes racing action from the FIA Formula 2 Championship seasonopener at the same circuit.
