Prime Minister's Narendra Modi's highly-anticipated appearance of the show 'Man vs Wild' was watched intently across the nation. The special episode saw the 68-year-old leader accompany award-winning British host Bear Grylls into the jungles of the the Jim Corbett National Park.

In the show, Modi was seen telling Grylls about his humble beginnings as a tea-seller's son, and his solo trips to the Himalayas in search of God, when he was young.

The PM took the oppotunity to emphasis on the importance of protecting the enviornment, saying it is every human's responsibility to do so. He also blamed the current lifestyle that leads to exploiting nature for enjoyment.

The episode got Twitter buzzing with several users applauding the PM, while another section criticising the move. On the platform, 'Man vs Wild' was the top trend in India and at the second spot worldwide.

Bollywood celebrities too took to the microblogging site to share their excitement.

Film-maker Karan Johar, who was part of the delegation of film-makers that met the PM earlier this year, quoted Modi's tweet, and wrote, "A strong message from our honourable Prime minister @narendramodi! Something we all need to contribute to ...environmental conservation is the need of the hour....thank you sir for all your endeavours...."

Prior to the airing of the show, actor Akshay Kumar tweeted, "Besides being a unique show high on adventure and adrenaline, it will also shed light upon pressing issues like climate change and ways to protect our planet." Khiladi Kumar had also conducted a 'non-political, candid' interview with PM Modi before the Lok Sabha Elections.

While Randeep Hooda called it 'a great message to the masses of the country in Hindi translated in English for the world', the 'Mr India' actor, wrote, "Great setting, great men, the greatest mission of all!"

Ajay Devgn quoted Modi's tweet that read, "What better than the lush green jungles of India, in the midst of Mother Nature to throw light on environmental conservation and climate change."

There was, however, a section of Twitterati who was not happy with Modi.

One user pointed out that the shooting for the episode coincided with the Pulwama attack, while another slammed the PM for tweeting about his show when people across the country were suffering due to floods.

Modi's 'Man vs Wild' adventure is also being compared to Russian President Vladimir Putin who has been photographed horse-riding in Siberia, spear-fishing in a camouflage wet-suit, and practising judo.

This isn't the first time a world leader has appeared on the show. Earlier during his presidency, Obama had accompanied Grylls to Alaska for a special episode.
