    Ritiesh & Genelia extend a helping hand to those in need, pledge to donate their organs

    Several Bollywood celebrities in the past, have pledged support for organ donation.
    Extending a helping hand to those in need, Bollywood star couple Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza pledged to donate their organs on the occasion of National Doctor’s day, which is celebrated on July 1 every year.

    The couple made the announcement on Twitter, sharing a 36-second-video, in which Deshmukh said, "Hi guys, Genelia and I have discussed it many times, but we haven't been able to tell you about it. Today, on July 1, we want to announce that both of us have pledged to donate our organs."

    “There is no greater gift to someone than ‘The Gift Of Life’,” Deshmukh captioned the video.

    Genelia too posted, "@riteishd and me have been thinking about it for a long time but unfortunately didn’t get down to doing it. Today on Doctor’s Day we pledge to donate our organs. We want to thank Dr Nozer Sherier and FOGSI for inspiring us. The greatest gift you can give someone is ‘The gift of life’. We urge you all to take a part in this initiate and pledge to save lives, pledge to donate your organs."

    Several Bollywood celebrities in the past, have pledged support for organ donation. Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has pledged to donate her eyes to the Eye Bank Association.

    While Salman Khan has donated his bone marrow in the past to save the life of a girl, R Madhavan has pledged to donate his eyes, heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. ( Source)
