First it was unofficial leaks. Now, social media teasers (many from the smartphone companies themselves) have become the norm to drum up interest about a new launch. Thanks to all these ‘official’ teasers, we now have a fair idea of what’s coming, says Karan Bajaj. You might want to hold off on that purchase, just for a few weeks.

Samsung, on Thursday, introduced its MicroLED display, 'The Wall', that stretches up to 146-inch, 219-inch, 292-inch, in India. According to the South Korean tech giant, the device optimises picture quality scene-by-scene irrespective of original resolution source with its AI picture quality engine. The Wall will be priced at Rs 3.5 crore to Rs 12 crore, excluding taxes.

The Wall's Quantum Processor Flex uses a machine learning-based picture quality engine which calibrates low resolution pictures according to the display. The device can be connected to any operating system through physical HDMI input, thereby making it an easy-to-use gadget.

When the screen is not in use, The Wall displays paintings and pictures with digital frames that suit the user's preferences. It also boasts of a 0.8mm pixel pitch technology.

Other key features of the device include depth less than 30mm, and slim, bezel-less design with customisable deco frames. It also includes AI-upscaling, 2,000 nits of bightness and 120Hz video rate.

The Wall displays come in 3 ratios - 146-inch in 4K, 219-inch in 6K and 292-inch in 8K definition. A professional version of the device can be used in high-end retail spaces.
