This biography is a story of Anand Kumar. A Patna-based mathematician, he followed his true calling and designed coaching classes for 30 underprivileged students, who aspired to secure admissions in coveted institutions of India. Anand (Roshan) rises from the rubble to mould his dreams. A math whiz, he secures admission at Cambridge University, but has to let go of this opportunity because he is unable to afford the fees.

A heartbroken Anand now takes it upon himself to make sure that no deserving student has to give up on his dream due to monetary issues. The movie weaves the caste prejudice and education for the privileged angle beautifully into the narrative. This is the story of a common man who decides to wage war on many fronts. There are some moments that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you in tears.

Director Bahl has taken plenty of cinematic liberties to put his message forth. Some plot points seem far-fetched and dramatised. This eventually adds to the run time. Roshan tries hard to keep his Greek God looks aside and play the character. While his transformation is initially difficult to believe, he fills in all the gaps with his performance. There is an honesty to it. Thakur, who plays his girlfriend, has little to do. But she is effective in her limited screen time. Tripathi as a corrupt politician is brilliant and Shrivastava too fits the bill.

'Super 30' is a drama that has its set of flaws but is worth a watch.
