Both
OnePlus 3 and 3T are two pieces of tech from
OnePlus which have aged like fine wine. Launched in 2016, both 3 and 3T gained mainstream popularity and were extensively used by people globally. However, after providing three years of security updates, OnePlus has reached the last leg of the update cycle.
According to OnePlus’s software maintenance schedule listed on forums.oneplus.com, the final security update for the phones was supposed to be rolled out with October 2019 patch. And living up to its promise, OnePlus has released the
final update.
The update marks the end of a 3-year run for 3 and 3T. OnePlus has started phase 1 of rollout for the last update. In the first phase, the update will reach only a few phones and once the company confirms that there are no major issues, it will be rolled out to the rest of the devices.
The update includes security patch for October 2019, along with various bug fixes and improvements. Several people took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the last update for OnePlus 3 and 3T.
This Twitter user pointed out that OnePlus 3, despite being launched 3 years ago, outperforms phones released this year.
For the uninitiated, most OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) provide only 2 years of updates. OnePlus had set a new benchmark for tech giants by promising three years of security updates which was extremely rare.
