SOLAR ECLIPSE TOURS

REGION: Faroe Islands & Svalbard

The Faroe Islands and Svalbard in Norway are the only places in the world where total solar eclipse can be observed from land.

FAROE ISLANDS

Situated halfway between Iceland and Norway, Faroe Islands boasts of pristine waters, mountains and fresh air (really). The fantastic landscape is linked by modern undersea tunnels, bridges and ferries.

The total solar eclipse of March 20, 2015 will cross these unspoiled islands where the cliffs along the fjords are filled with over 260 species of birds, with 40 remaining in the Faroe Islands year-round.

After the solar eclipse in the morning (scheduled at 9:41am local time) the entire week will be packed with a wide variety of cultural events. The national theatre has a play about light and darkness. There are concerts galore and tourists can also indulge in great Faroese cuisine.

SVALBARD, NORWAY

Apart from the total solar eclipse, tourists can also witness Aurora Borealis (double whammy). To catch the sun going completely out of sight, head to a tiny village on the island of Spitsbergen, less than 1,100 km from the North Pole – don't miss this opportunity of a lifetime.
