Located in Darjeeling, West Bengal, Tiger Hill is one of the best places to watch sunrise. This is in fact one of the main attractions here. Since the trek is among the easy ones, it garners tourists in huge numbers. You can trek to a favourable vantage point from Ghoom. The view of Mount Kanchenjunga, the contours of the Himalayas and the climb of the hill, make this trek as charming as it can be imagined.

The Kunjapuri Temple, in Rishikesh, offers panoramic views of the Himalayas with the Ganga River below. Drive towards a feasible distance towards the temple from Rishikesh and climb 250 steps to reach the vantage point inside. At sunrise, watch the Himalayan range awash in a golden glow, eventually shining on the town of Rishikesh and the Ganga River. Post sunrise, begin trekking downhill. Enroute you’ll pass mountains, villages, farms, and more. Re-treat at the Neer Gaddu Waterfall before heading back.

Sondai is a short but beautiful trek situated in the Matheran range. It is more of a watch tower than a fort boasting of a splendid sun-rise. It derives its name from a local deity Sondai devi. One can get a view of Morbe dam reservoir, Irshalgad, Matheran hills and Gar-bett plateau from the top. Sondewadi is the base village for this trek.

Skandagiri, also historically known as Kalwarbetta or Kalavara Durga, is a mountain fortress nestled close to Bangalore. This tiring yet much rewarding trek takes you through a spectacular journey amidst the wilderness. Reach the base point by mid-night begin the trek. This 8km trek can easily be completed within 4 to 5 hours of ascending and descending. Once you reach the top, enjoy the bonfire in the starry night couched inside your sleeping bags. Wake up to experience the morning winds caress your face; thereafter feast on the most magnanimous sight of the sun rising above a bed of clouds. The Papagni Temple and the ruined remains of Tipu Sultans fort are the sights you’ll encounter enroute.
