PTISix of the nine commodity group sub-Indices and 18 of the 29 individual commodity sub-Indices that constitute the Index, ended the week higher.
The Agriwatch Agri Commodities Index jumped 1.97 per cent to 120.63 during the week ended Nov 30, 2019 from 118.30 the previous week amid a broad-based rally in agri-commodity prices led by onion (Onion Index = 373.6, up 25.1 per cent). Edible oils, oilseeds, sugar, cereals and cotton registered weekly gains of 1-2 per cent while pulses, spices and potato declined during the week. The commodity group sub-Index values and their weekly changes are: Cereals: 120.73 (+1.42 per cent), Pulses: 133.59 (-0.35 per cent), Potato & Onion: 216.89 (+18.20 per cent), Edible Oils: 118.61 (+1.33 per cent), Oilseeds: 111.64 (+1.04 per cent), Spices: 148.19 (-3.30 per cent), Sweeteners: 107.49 (+1.21 per cent), Fibres: 100.03 (+1.89 per cent) and Other Non-Food Articles: 87.88 (-0.27 per cent).
