Precious Metals: Gold, silver futures dip on muted demand

Globally, the silver prices were trading higher by 0.31 per cent at $17.94 per ounce in New York.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March next year was trading lower by Rs 128, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 47,513 per kg in a business volume of 60 lots.
Gold futures traded lower by Rs 129 to Rs 37,557 per 10 gram on Friday due to profit-booking by participants on low demand.

Gold for delivery in October was trading lower by Rs 129, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 37,557 per 10 gram in a business volume of 3,939 lots.

The yellow metal to be delivered in December fell by Rs 126, or 0.33 per cent at Rs 38,339 per 10 gram in 193 lots.

Analysts said, the fall in gold futures was mostly attributed to profit-booking by participants at the domestic market.

Globally, however, gold prices firmed up by 0.36 per cent to USD 1,511.60 an ounce in New York.

SILVER
Silver prices fell by Rs 163 to Rs 46,443 per kg in futures trade on Friday as participants reduced their bets on low demand at the spot market even as the metal gained overseas.

On Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December was trading lower by Rs 163, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 46,443 per kg in a business turnover of 2,840 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March next year was trading lower by Rs 128, or 0.27 per cent, to Rs 47,513 per kg in a business volume of 60 lots.

Globally, the silver prices were trading higher by 0.31 per cent at $17.94 per ounce in New York.

Traders said off-loading of positions by participants at the existing level due to weak demand, put pressure on silver prices.
