Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Owner, Rare Enterprises in conversation with Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor Khan. Excerpts from an interview with ETNOW.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: What made you finally decide to marry Saif Khan?
Kareena Kapoor Khan: The minute I met Saif I knew that this is going to be more than a casual relationship. And yes, he has added a lot to my life also in terms of just being so open and supportive in terms of allowing me to work after marriage. In terms of overall approach, he has shown me that there is more to life than just probably movies or investing.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: And widened your horizons about…
Kareena Kapoor Khan: About life in general which I think a man should do for a woman.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: How does it feel to be a Begum especially when you go to Pataudi?
Kareena Kapoor Khan:Those titles are not there now but of course it is a mark of respect because Pataudi is a family home. It is very, very close to Saif’s heart and in fact we have taken it back now and Saif has done up the whole place.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: He also partly opened a hotel there?
Kareena Kapoor Khan: No, no. It used to be a hotel, now it is not. It is just a home. Saif has grown up there. But I obviously do not take the title seriously. I think the original begum will always be my mom-in-law because she is, you know, so amazing.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: How is your relationship with your mom-in-law? I think she was the finest actress India has ever produced.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: Absolutely. She is one of the most spectacular, graceful woman I have ever met.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: She lives in Mumbai now?
Kareena Kapoor Khan: She lives in Delhi and I think yes her’s are big shoes to fill because she has aced everything in her life.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: And Saif has one sister?
Kareena Kapoor Khan: He has two sisters.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: One is an actor?
Kareena Kapoor Khan: One is an actor, Soha is in the movies, Saba is not. She is a jewellery designer and yes Saif has always been into acting.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: You are a Hindu, Saif is a Muslim. How do you give religious and cultural training to Taimur? Culture is important, religion is not.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: Yes.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: And we have Mumbai culture.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: Humanity is important and that is the most important thing and that is the only thing that matters.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: In Mumbai, nothing matters actually.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: Yes and we are open minded. I just want to tell Taimur that he should just be a good human being at the end of the day and he can follow whichever path he likes in his life. Of course, we respect all religions and we will follow all religions, like we celebrate Christmas as much as Diwali. It is a festival of family and togetherness and love and light.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala: I know you all have lunch every time at Mr Kapoor’s house.
Kareena Kapoor Khan: Yes I like Shashi uncle. We celebrate Christmas because of Jennifer aunty. So this family has actually celebrated Eid also. It is up to Taimur, like I said. I just want him to be a good human.
