Sensex gives up early gains; Nifty50 slips below 8,950

Nifty50 inched higher, trading closer to its previous 52-week high of 8,992.50, supported by gains in power, oil & gas, consumer durable and auto stocks

Sensex starts on a flat note; Nifty50 inches towards fresh 52-week high
NEW DELHI: The benchmark BSE Sensex on Tuesday was trading with a negative bias in afternoon trade after giving up all of the morning gains.

The S&P BSE Sensex had started flat but on a positive note, led by gains in RIL, HDFC, TCS, HDFC Bank, and ITC.

After inching closer to 9,000 level in early trade, Nifty50 was slipped by nearly 30 points to trade below 8,950 level.

At 1.30 pm: TeamLease Services, Monnet Ispat among stocks that rallied over 5% intraday

Shares of Onward Tech (up 5.13 per cent) , TeamLease Services Ltd. (up 5.16 per cent) , Monnet Ispat (up 5.63 per cent) , Seamec Ltd (up 6.26 per cent) , Bhartiya Intnl (up 6.29 per cent) , Somi Conveyor (up 7.17 per cent) , PAE Ltd (up 7.42 per cent) , Gravita India (up 8.03 per cent) , Bhageria Dye (up 8.70 per cent) , Jenson Nicholson (up 9.67 per cent) , Gokul Agro Resources Ltd. (up 10.18 per cent) , REI Agro (up 11.11 per cent) rallied over 5 per cent intraday on NSE till 1 pm (IST).

In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as Adani Ports SEZ (up 1.35 per cent) , BPCL (up 1.30 per cent) , TCS (up 0.99 per cent) , Tata Power (up 0.97 per cent) , ONGC (up 0.90 per cent) , Wipro (up 0.87 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (up 0.73 per cent) , Eicher Motors (up 0.71 per cent) , GAIL (up 0.62 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (up 0.42 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (up 0.34 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.28 per cent) were among top gainers on Tuesday.


At 1.20 pm: Bharat Wire Ropes, Uttam Value Steel among stocks that slipped over 5% today

The benchmark equity index BSE Sensex was trading 68.58 points down at 28979.61 in the afternoon trade on Tuesday on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters.

On the NSE , FCS Software (down -16.67 per cent) , Pan India Corp (down -14.29 per cent) , Nicco Corp (down -12.50 per cent) , Mahamaya Steel (down -9.62 per cent) , Shekhawati Poly (down -9.09 per cent) , Uttam Value Stl (down -7.69 per cent) , Zenith Birla (down -7.14 per cent) , Nu Tek India (down -7.14 per cent) , Kanani Inds (down -5.04 per cent) , Motor Gen Fin (down -5.00 per cent) , Bharat Wire Ropes Ltd. (down -5.00 per cent) declined over 5 per cent intraday on March 07.

On the NSE, FCS Software, Mahamaya Steel, Shekhawati Poly, DB International, Power Mech Projects Ltd., Alstom T&D Ind, KSS Ltd, Birla Cotsyn, Rasoya Proteins, TTK Healthcare, Raj Rayon hit their fresh 52-week low, while Windsor Machine, Filatex India, Vadilal Ind, Gokul Agro Resources Ltd., Jenson Nicholson, Gravita India, NBI Industrial Finance Company Ltd., Assam Company, Pilani Invest, Cura Tech, Adani Power, Bombay Dyeing touched their fresh 52-week high today.



At 1.15 pm: Adani Power, Bombay Dyeing, Jindal Stainless hit 52-week high

Shares of Windsor Machine, Filatex India, Vadilal Ind, Gokul Agro Resources Ltd., Jenson Nicholson, Gravita India, NBI Industrial Finance Company Ltd., Assam Company, Cura Tech, Adani Power, Bombay Dyeing, Pilani Invest, Jindal Stainless, Kalyani Forge, Panama Petro hit their fresh 52-week high in Tuesday’s trade on NSE.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 25.40 points down at 8938.05 in the afternoon trade on Tuesday on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters.

At 1.00 pm: RIL, GAIL, Tata Motors, SBI, Axis Bank most active stocks in terms of volume

Shares of RIL (Rs 877.51 crore) , GAIL ( Rs 245.09 crore) , Tata Motors ( Rs 216.20 crore) , Hindalco Inds. ( Rs 191.90 crore) , SBI ( Rs 171.81 crore) , Axis Bank ( Rs 160.11 crore) , Tata Steel ( Rs 151.77 crore) , Ashok Leyland ( Rs 146.39 crore) , Vedanta Ltd ( Rs 130.21 crore) , ICICI Bank ( Rs 108.10 crore) were among the most active stocks in terms of value in the afternoon trade on NSE around 12.40 pm (IST).

The NSE Nifty was trading 24.35 points down at 8939.10 around the same time.

Most Active stocks in terms of value help investors to identify the stocks with highest trading turnover during the day.

Shares of Windsor Machine, Filatex India, Vadilal Ind, Gokul Agro Resources Ltd., Jenson Nicholson, Gravita India, NBI Industrial Finance Company Ltd., Assam Company, Adani Power, Cura Tech hit their fresh 52-week high in Tuesday’s trade.

On the other hand, FCS Software, Mahamaya Steel, Shekhawati Poly, Pricol Ltd., DB International, Alstom T&D Ind, KSS Ltd, Rasoya Proteins, TTK Healthcare and Raj Rayon stocks hit their new 52-week low levels during the day.

At 12.45 pm: Ashok Leyland, Hindalco, RIL, Vedanta shares soar in volume

Shares of Ashok Leyland (number of shares traded: 1.59 crore), Hindalco Industries (0.98 crore), RIL (0.67 crore), SBI (0.64 crore) , Vedanta Ltd (0.49 crore) , Idea Cellular (0.48 crore) , GAIL (0.46 crore) , Tata Power (0.46 crore) , Tata Motors (0.46 crore) and Bank of Baroda (0.40 crore) were among the most traded securities in the afternoon trade on the National Stock Exchange around 12.40 pm (IST).

In the Nifty index, Adani Ports SEZ (up 1.43 per cent) , BPCL (up 1.25 per cent) , TCS (up 1.03 per cent) , Wipro (up 0.92 per cent) , ONGC (up 0.88 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (up 0.74 per cent) , Tata Power (up 0.67 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (up 0.61 per cent) , Eicher Motors (up 0.60 per cent) , GAIL (up 0.51 per cent) were among top gainers

However, Hindalco Industries (down 3.26 per cent) , Tata Steel (down 2.14 per cent) , Axis Bank (down 1.39 per cent) , YES Bank (down 1.16 per cent) , Infosys (down 1.12 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (down 1.07 per cent) , Lupin (down 1.03 per cent) , SBI (down 0.96 per cent) , M&M (down 0.89 per cent) and Sun Pharma (down 0.81 per cent) were trading in red.

At 12.35 pm: Metal, telecom, FMCG sectors drag market lower

Among the sectoral indices on BSE, the BSE Metal index was trading lower by 1.63 per cent in the afternoon trade around 12.30 pm (IST). It was followed by Telecom (down 0.68 per cent), Healthcare (down 0.42 per cent), FMCG (down 0.41 per cent) and Bankex (down 0.34 per cent).

On the other hand, BSE Consumer Durables, Power, Oil & Gas and Capital Goods were trading higher by 0.85 per cent, 0.33 per cent, 0.20 per cent and 0.14 per cent, respectively.

At 12.30 pm: Over 30 stocks in Nifty index down in noon trade; Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, Hindalco in red

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 25.40 points down at 8,938.05 in the noon trade on Tuesday on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters.

Around 20 stocks in the index were trading in green around 12.20 pm (IST), while 31 shares were trading in red.

In the BSE 500 index, 214 stocks were trading in green, while 279 shares were trading lower than their previous close.

In the Nifty50 pack, BPCL (up 1.25 per cent) , Adani Ports SEZ (up 1.12 per cent) , TCS (up 1.04 per cent) , Wipro (up 0.85 per cent) , ONGC (up 0.83 per cent) , Tata Power (up 0.67 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (up 0.66 per cent) , Eicher Motors (up 0.60 per cent) , GAIL (up 0.36 per cent) , HDFC Bank (up 0.32 per cent) were among top gainers in the noon trade.

However, Hindalco (down -3.26 per cent) , Tata Steel (down -2.11 per cent) , Axis Bank (down -1.35 per cent) , YES Bank (down -1.22 per cent) , Lupin (down -1.20 per cent) , SBI (down -1.06 per cent) , Infosys (down -1.05 per cent) , Bharti Airtel (down -1.00 per cent) , M&M (down -0.92 per cent) and Sun Pharma (down -0.79 per cent) were trading in red.

At 09:20 am: The 30-share index was trading 20 points higher or 0.06 per cent at 29,066. It touched a high of 29,098.17 and a low of 29,034.17 in morning trade.

The Nifty50 was trading at 8,955 down 8 points or 0.09 per cent. It touched a high of 8,977.85 and a low of 8,954.00 in the first 30 minutes of trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was trading 0.29 per cent higher and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.13 per cent up.

RIL (up 1.03 per cent), Power Grid (up 0.7 per cent), TCS (up 0.7 per cent), NTPC (up 0.5 per cent), and Adani Ports (up 0.3 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers.

Infosys (down 1.4 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.7 per cent), and Sun Pharma (down 0.58 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.
