Sensex, Nifty50 pare most losses, turn rangebound

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex was trading with a negative bias in afternoon trade on Thursday, led by losses in Infosys, ITC, Dr Reddy's Laboratories, HDFC Bank, GAIL India, and Axis Bank.

The Nifty50 was trading around its crucial support level of 8,900 weighed down by losses in IT, power, oil & gas, metal, banks, and telecom stocks.

At 12.50 pm: Dish TV, Jindal Stainless among stocks that rallied over 5% in trade

Domestic equity index BSE Sensex was trading 10.15 points down at 28891.79 in the late afternoon trade on Thursday.

Shares of Dish TV India (up 5.47 per cent) , Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Ltd. (up 5.90 per cent) , Jindal Stainless (up 6.24 per cent) , Guj FluoroChem (up 7.58 per cent) , Ballarpur Inds. (up 9.86 per cent) rallied over 5 per cent intraday during the day.

In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as Axis Bank (up 1.49 per cent) , Maruti Suzuki (up 1.33 per cent) , Asian Paints (up 1.12 per cent) , SBI (up 0.83 per cent) , ACC (up 0.76 per cent) , Tata Motors (up 0.50 per cent) , HDFC (up 0.37 per cent) , Infosys (up 0.30 per cent) , Hero MotoCorp (up 0.28 per cent) , Zee Ent. (up 0.26 per cent) were trading in green.

At 12.45 pm: Energy, telecom stocks down in trade; Consumer Durables, auto up

Among the sectoral indices on BSE, the Consumer Durables index advanced the most 0.71 per cent in the late morning trade around 11.35 am (IST). It was followed by Auto (up 0.45 per cent), Realty (up 0.37 per cent), IT (up 0.25 per cent) and Bankex (up 0.19 per cent).

On the other hand, the BSE Oil & Gas index, Telecom, Healthcare and Metal were trading lower by 0.57 per cent, 0.55 per cent, 0.46 per cent and 0.43 per cent, respectively.

The BSE Sensex was trading 3.07 points up at 28,905.01 around the same time, while the NSE Nifty index was down 3.25 points at 8921.05 .

In the 50-share index, 20 stocks were trading in green, while 31 stocks were trading in red.

Shares of VKS Projects, Palred Tech, Ballarpur Inds., Soma Textiles, Future Market, Jindal Stainles, NBI Industrial Finance Company Ltd., Oracle Fin, Kalyani Forge, ABM International Ltd., Jindal Stainless (Hisar) Ltd. and Linde India hit their fresh 52-week highs in Thursday 's trade, while High Ground Ent, Mahamaya Steel, Bharati Ship, DQ Entertainmnt, Dr Reddys Labs, Servalakshmi Pap, Readymade Steel, DB International, Power Mech Projects Ltd., Energy Deve Co, KSS Ltd, Shekhawati Poly touched their fresh 52-week lows.

At 12.40 pm: Dr Reddy’s, Hindalco, HPCL among most active stocks in terms of value

Shares of Reliance Industries ( Rs 484.76 crore) , GAIL ( Rs 427.97 crore) , Dr Reddys Labs ( Rs 349.40 crore) , SBI ( Rs 167.96 crore) , HDFC ( Rs 167.38 crore) , Vedanta Ltd ( Rs 158.85 crore) , Axis Bank ( Rs 144.57 crore) , Maruti Suzuki ( Rs 115.65 crore) , Hindalco Inds. ( Rs 111.72 crore) , Tata Steel ( Rs 93.06 crore) , Shriram Tran Fin ( Rs 89.62 crore) and HPCL ( Rs 75.70 crore) were among most active stocks in terms of value on NSE in the late morning trade around 11.30 am (IST).

Most Active stocks in terms of value help investors to identify the stocks with highest trading turnover during the day.

At 12.35 pm: Shares of RIL, ONGC, Vedanta, Hindalco soar in volume

Shares of GAIL (number of shares traded: 1.12 crore), Vedanta Ltd (0.62 crore), SBI (0.60 crore), Hindalco Inds. (0.58 crore), Idea Cellular (0.53 crore), Reliance Industries (0.37 crore) , Axis Bank (0.27 crore) , ITC (0.27 crore) , ONGC (0.23 crore) , ICICI Bank (0.23 crore) , DLF (0.22 crore) , PFC (0.22 crore) were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange till 11.25 am (IST).

The NSE Nifty was down 9.7 points at 8914.6 around the same time, while BSE Sensex was trading lower by 15.32 points at 28886.62 in the late morning trade.

In the Nifty index, Axis Bank (up 1.63 per cent) , Asian Paints (up 1.22 per cent) , Maruti Suzuki (up 1.00 per cent) , ACC (up 0.76 per cent) , SBI (up 0.76 per cent) , Tata Motors (up 0.56 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (up 0.40 per cent) , HDFC (up 0.31 per cent) , Infosys (up 0.25 per cent) , UltraTech Cem. (up 0.23 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 0.22 per cent) , Hero MotoCorp (up 0.21 per cent) were among top gainers

However, Dr Reddy’s Labs (down -4.25 per cent) , Idea Cellular (down -2.59 per cent) , GAIL (down -2.33 per cent) , Adani Ports SEZ (down -2.17 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (down -1.66 per cent) , Wipro (down -1.35 per cent) , ONGC (down -1.19 per cent) , PowerGrid (down -1.18 per cent) , BHEL (down -0.88 per cent) , BPCL (down -0.78 per cent), Aurobindo Pharm (down -0.69 per cent) and Bosch (down -0.62 per cent) were trading in red.

At 12.30 pm: Jindal Stainless, Vadilal, Gokul Refoils hit 52-week high

Shares of Palred Tech, Ballarpur Industries, Future Market, Soma Textiles, NBI Industrial Finance Company Ltd., ABM International Ltd., Linde India, Gokul Refoils, Kalyani Forge, Jindal Stainless (Hisar), Vadilal Ind and Jindal Stainles hit their fresh 52-week high on NSE.

However, stocks such as FCS Software, Shekhawati Poly, High Ground Ent, Mahamaya Steel, Bharati Ship, Dr Reddys Labs, DQ Entertainmnt, Servalakshmi Pap, Readymade Steel, DB International, Power Mech Projects and Energy Deve Co touched their fresh 52-week low.

Overall, 21 shares were trading in green in Nifty50, while 30 were trading in red.

At 09:20 am: The 30-share index was trading 41 points lower or 0.14 per cent at 28,860. It touched a high of 28,911.54 and a low of 28,815.02 in morning trade.

The Nifty50 was trading at 8,911 down 14 points or 0.13 per cent. It touched a high of 8,914.75 and a low of 8,899.50 in the first 30 minutes of trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was trading 0.07 per cent lower and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.06 per cent up.

Tata Motors (up 0.7 per cent), Asian Paints (up 1.06 per cent), M&M (up 0.7 per cent), ICICI Bank (up 0.2 per cent), and Maruti Suzuki (up 0.5 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers.

GAIL India (down 4.7 per cent), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (down 2.8per cent), and ONGC (down 1 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.
