Stock market update: FMCG index trades with negative bias; Godrej Ind. down 5%

FMCG index on NSE was trading with a negative bias on Thursday.

Godrej Industries (down 4.95 per cent), United Spirits (down 3.56 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (down 3.27 per cent) and Emami (down 2.11 per cent) were major losers on the index.

Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (down 1.45 per cent), Marico (down 1.35 per cent), Britannia Industries (down 0.88 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 0.78 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (down 0.72 per cent) and Dabur India (down 0.67 per cent) were among other losers.

On the other hand, shares of ITC (up 1.31 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 0.94 per cent) and Jubilant Foodworks (up 0.50 per cent) were major gainers.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.19 per cent down at 30741.55 around 11:32 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 30 points at 11,329.9. BSE Sensex was down 119.44 points at 38,185.97.

Among the 50 stocks in Nifty index, 24 were trading in green, while 26 were in red. Shares of YES Bank, Voda Idea, Tata Motors, SBI, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Bank of Baroda, Ashok Leyland, SAIL, RBL Bank and Zee Entertainment were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange.
