I am 29 years old. I have been investing via monthly SIP of Rs 4,000 in three mutual funds since the past nine months:

Reliance Large Cap Fund: Rs 500
Motilal Oswal Multicap 35 Fund: Rs 1,500
Aditya Birla Sun Life Tax Relief 96: Rs 2,000

Are these funds doing okay? And what can I do more for a better corpus? My investment horizon is long term and short term. My risk appetite is moderate.

My other investments are:
PPF: yearly Rs 1.3 lakh
LIC: Rs 18,880 yearly
NPS: Rs 60,000 yearly

It seems, you are new to mutual funds. First, you should always choose mutual funds according to your financial goal, time in hand to achieve the goal, return expectations, and your risk profile. Ideally, you should choose debt mutual funds to achieve your short term goals and equity mutual funds for your long-term goals.

You are currently investing only in equity mutual funds. These schemes can help you to take care of your long-term goals. You should star investing in debt mutual funds if you have short term goals. Remember to choose debt mutual funds based on your investment horizon.

If you are not familiar with investing in mutual funds, you should seek the help of a mutual fund advisor. Ask your friends and colleagues for references.

You are investing in good schemes. You may continue with them, but keep track of your investments and review your mutual fund portfolio at least once a year.

Also, try to quantify your goals and provide for inflation and taxes to reach a realistic target corpus to take care of every goal without much difficulty.
