It is a question most debt mutual fund investors have been asking ever since the Reserve Bank of India cut its key policy rates last week: is it the right time to invest in long duration debt mutual funds? Dhawal Dalal, CIO-Fixed Income, Edelweiss Mutual Fund, believes so.“2019 is going to be a very decent year for duration funds. Last two years have been bad for them. Do not break your existing investments, but if you have extra money to invest in debt funds or if some of your existing investments are maturing soon, you may put that money into long duration funds. By long duration, I mean five to six years maturity,” said Dhawal Dalal. He was speaking at ET Wealth Investment Workshop held in Chandigarh on April 5.
