I want to invest a lumpsum of around Rs 4 lakh in equity mutual funds. My goal is creation of wealth. I have an aggressive risk appetite. My investment horizon is 8-10 years. Where should I invest?

Pankaj Maalde, a certified financial planner, responds:

Your investment horizon and risk profile is good enough to take an aggressive call. However, you have to be careful while investing a lumpsum in equity.

The market is at an all-time high but GDP growth is likely to be around 6% this year.

I would ask you to invest the entire amount in ultra short-term funds and do an STP of Rs 40,000 in a multi cap fund. You may consider investing in Axis Multicap Fund and Kotak Standard Multicap Fund. If you still want to go for a lumpsum investment, invest in an aggressive hybrid fund like SBI Equity Hybrid Fund and Mirae Asset Hybrid Equity Fund.
