Is there any changes needed in my mutual fund portfolio to build a corpus of Rs 35 lakh after 25 years. I am investing Rs 1,000 per month via SIP in these schemes. The current value of my portfolio is Rs 1.6 lakh.

Puneet Oberoi, founder, Excellent Investment Advisorz, responds:

You are investing Rs 9,000 per month. If you continue to invest the same amount every month for the next 25 years, your corpus should be around Rs 1.69 crore .

However, you should first identify whether the target you are calculating is as per today’s value or the future value. If you need Rs 35 lakh today, assuming a 6 per cent inflation, the future value of your goal would be Rs 1.5 crore after 25 years.

If this is the only goal you have, you would have accumulated surplus money for your goal.
