    Synopsis

"I extend my congratulations to Narendra Modi on the occasion of his being sworn in to serve a second term as India's Prime Minister," she said.

"Through the last several years, we have seen the US-India partnership has continued to grow in areas like regional security and trade," she said.
Washington- Democratic presidential hopeful Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was sworn in as India's Prime Minister for a second term.

"I extend my congratulations to Narendra Modi on the occasion of his being sworn in to serve a second term as India's Prime Minister," she said.

She said India is the world's largest democracy, where the recent elections saw over 500 million people cast their votes all across India at nearly one million polling places.

"Through the last several years, we have seen the US-India partnership has continued to grow in areas like regional security and trade," she said.

"It is very important that the US and India continue to work together to solve some of the most pressing issues facing our world, such as combating climate change, preventing nuclear war and nuclear proliferation, protecting our oceans and rivers, improving the economic well-being of our people, as well as protecting individual freedoms and rights," she said in a statement.

Gabbard is the first ever Hindu lawmaker in the US Congress. She is also the first ever Hindu to run for presidential elections. Currently, there are nearly 20 Democratic presidential aspirants in the race to challenge incumbent Donald Trump for the 2020 elections.

A former Co-Chair of the powerful India Caucus in the US House of Representatives, Gabbard has been a close friend of India and a supporter of a string India US relationship.

Look what a pathetic condition of a national party who is once again not qualifying for post of LOP. Just before start of counting all the spoke persons n sycophants of high command were talking big & claiming grand victory BUT as counting started, congress lost ground in the beginning itself . Why talk baseless n make tall claims when they know they did no good work except abusing PM n other opposition leaders and failed to provide a good alternative to BJP Govt. IN every TV debate , all congress leaders always alleged BJP Govt & PM for everything after fully knowing well total corrupt regime of UPA 2 . One can not fol people every time. Now see the result . Rahul lost from Amethi which was gandhi family citadel . MSG is very clear that people want result n good governance in which congress failed . Congress must come out from it''s dynastic rule and some one non gandhi family should be made president whi has some knowledge, experience and credibility if congress desire to get revival o/wise 2024 would still be worse. All sycophants must be thrown out of party and get freedom from the high command culture .
