"Congress is the only party which can fight BJP’s ideology of divisiveness and stand for togetherness of Mizos, Chakmas and Brus," Rahul said.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi alleged that BJP is piggy riding on the regional party Mizo National Front (MNF) to make entry into Mizoram.

Addressing an election rally in Champai from where Chief Minister Lalthanhawla is contesting, Rahul said that Congress will protect the history, idea, culture of Mizoram. “MNF is destroying the culture of Mizoram by allowing the BJP to enter Mizoram.”

Congress is alleging that MNF and BJP are in understanding. Both BJP and MNF are fighting election separately. MNF was a member of BJP floated platform on non-Congress parties, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).

Rahul said that BJP and RSS want to impose one ideology. "They BJP and RSS know that they cannot come to power in Mizoram or India next time, so they are putting RSS people in the institutions like RBI, CBI and Election commission. The idea is even if they lose election they will have people in these institutions.”

The Congress president while seeking third term for Congress in Mizoram said, “Congress is the only party which can fight BJP’s ideology of divisiveness and stand for togetherness of Mizos, Chakmas and Brus . We will not allow the BJP to change the nature of the country.”

Recounting the dawn of peace in the state after the Mizo accord, he said BJP is engaged in blatant corruption. “Rafale fighter jets deal which is biggest defence contact of world was renegotiated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India lost substantial money.”

Assuring that Mizoram will be the global Centre of sports and hub of cross border trade, he said, “I have fond memories of touring the state along with my father Rajiv Gandhi by road 1987”.

He said that visionary Mizo accord brought all people together. “Mizoram witnessed tremendous economic growth under congress rule the percapita income which was Rs 57,000 per year in 2008 and increased to Rs 1.15 per year now.”

Ghandi added, “pineapple production has increased by 900 percent, New Land Use Policy’ (NLUP) is a big success.”
