It is going to be an all-male cabinet: Zoramthanga

    Synopsis

We will implement total prohibition; we will go for massive improvement of roads in Mizoram, says Zoramthanga.

We did not find a woman candidate who could win a seat, says Zoramthanga.
ET asks Zoramthanga, who took oath as Mizoram chief minister on Saturday, what the MNF government plans to do to improve the state. Edited excerpts:

What will be your first step as chief minister of Mizoram?
Three things: We will implement total prohibition; we will go for massive improvement of roads in Mizoram, and we will implement my flagship programme — the socio-economic development plan.

Why do you think Congress lost so badly? It is now at number 3 with just five seats.
Because they did not do anything when they were in the government in Mizoram. People were angry. Lifting of the prohibion led to loss of several lives. They did not do anything for improving infrastructure either.

There are no women in the assembly.
It is going to be an all-male Cabinet. It is not a good thing but we did not find a woman candidate who could win a seat. So we could not give a ticket to any woman. That is why no woman contested.
