Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on December 09 said that he is thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who, Singh said, declared in Parliament house to extend Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur, thus “fully protecting” the state from Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. “It was a long due demand of the people of Manipur to protect indigenous population. On top of that, CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill) came, and that created so much panic. So, today honourable Union Home Minister declared in Parliament House that Inner Line Permit (ILP) system will be extending in Manipur. It (state) will be fully protected from the Citizen [ship] Amendment Bill,” the Manipur CM told ANI.
