Lockdown sends people out on panic buying
Panic due to 21-day lockdown
Fears of major shortages
"Essential commodities, medicines etc. would be available. Centre and various state governments will work in close coordination to ensure this," PM Narendra Modi said.
"I am getting milk, eggs and bread. But let's say on an average, I get 100 packets of bread, today I've only got 20," one Delhi shopkeeper told. "I'm giving it to people as and when they come. I'm not sure how long the existing stock is going to last," he said.
Difficult days ahead
"We are going to face major shortages in the days ahead. And at the same time prices are also going up -- tomatoes have more than doubled in price," he said.
