'No wrongdoing in Ceejay House deal': Praful Patel denies any link with Iqbal Mirchi
NCP leader Praful Patel in a press conference claimed that he had no dealings with the Hajrah Memon the wife of late gangster Iqbal Mirchi. Patel claimed that Hajrah Memon got a flat in the building through one MK Mohammad who was owning restaurants at the property before Cee Jay house was developed. Patel claimed that MK Mohammad got a share in the plot through a High Courrt order and said that the property was mired in disputes.

Patel claimed that MK Mohammad managed to get a share in the property via a Bombay High Court order after he proved that hew was in possession of a part of the Plot in which Ceejay house now stands. Patel claimed his family did not have anything to with Mohammad and in fact the entire dealings happened in the presence of a court receiver. As part of the court order Mohammad was to pay Rs 7 lakh to the court receiver.

Patel claimed that Mohammad on April 4 1980 then gave assigned all the rights of the land to Hajra Iqbal Memon and the latter even paid Rs 7 lakh to the Bombay High Court which Mohammad was supposed to pay.

The NCP leader claimed that Hajrah Memon came to own property in CeeJay building as she had got the deed of the property from MK Mohammad and hence he or his family had not entered in to any financial dealing with her.

" I have nothing to do with Hajra Memon, the Millenium developers is a Patel family firm and Hajrah or no one from her family owns any share in it. You can check it in the ROC records. There is not a single naya paisa dealing between the Patel family and Hajrah."said Patel in a press conference called in mumbai on Tuesday.

The NCP leader said that while questions are being raised on Mirchi's involvement with the D gang the authorities including the Bombay High Court or the government did not put a stop on Hajrah occupying the property. " All these issues have been in public domain, if simply the government agencies wanted to take adverse possession of the flat they could have taken. She was filing Income Tax returns. In 1999 the government gave her passport to travel to UAE and Saudi Arabia."

He further added, " I had then checked with my lawyers there was no restriction on signing the agreement with her. There was no adverse order against her or look out notice. Or else we would have informed the authorities. There is no reason why we should be questioned."

He added that his signature in the property deal was necessary as per the court order or else it would have amounted to contempt of court.
