Rao said it would take at least three months to "come to a consensus," on what form his efforts should take in the future.
Telengana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and DMK leader MK Stalin sought to play down uncertainties in the constituents of a possible political front at a press conference after a 90-minute meeting where subjects like protecting secularism, upholding state rights and devolution of more central funds to states were discussed.

He clarified that it is still premature to talk about political affiliations that may turn into electoral alliances.

Tamil Nadu's leader of Opposition MK Stalin said he had also pitched for a large public meeting to demand more scope for governance for states, for which, he said, the Telengana chief minister had given his active consideration.

"Today, there is talk across the country for need for a qualitative change in the governance of the country, in the politics of the country. He (Stalin) and I had a very delightful discussion. This is not the beginning and this is not the ending. We will continue to discuss with many leaders; with Mamata Banerjee also, we have spoken," Rao told a battery of journalists at Stalin's house.

Rao said it would take at least three months to "come to a consensus," on what form his efforts should take in the future.

Transfer of subjects to the states like Health, Education, Urban and Rural Development, and others were particularly discussed. Rao, speaking about his government in Telengana, said land records in the state have been cleaned up to the level of 96 per cent.

Stalin also added and these discussions will be relayed to the DMK's Governing, Executive, high-level Committees and other decision-making bodies. He also mentioned that there are like-minded parties in Tamil Nadu, with whom also, these discussions will be shared.
