Tripura government has rued lack of arrangement for the visit of Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Deb to Cooch Behar in West Bengal recently.

Tripura chief secretary L K Gupta has written a letter to his West Bengal counterpart Malay De, seeking an inquiry and appropriate action against the “erring officials”.

Deb was scheduled to visit Cooch Behar on December 7 on rescheduled programme. Deb was scheduled to participate in the Rath Yatra which was scheduled to be flagged off from Cooch Behar by BJP President Amit Shah however it was cancelled following the Calcutta High Court order which rejected the party’s petition seeking permission to hold the Yatra.

Later a division bench of the High court came down heavily on the government for not responding to BJP’s letter on yatra and directed top officials to take a decision on the processions by December 14.

Gupta in a letter pointed the non-cooperation attitude of the district police. “Tripura chief minister is a Zplus category security protectee and therefore Deputy Superintendent of police (security), Kamal Sukla Das of office of Sp(security) was detailed for Advance security Liaison (ASL).”

The chief secretary added that communication was made regarding the visit of the officer. However when the officer reached railway station there was no one to receive him and arrangement for accommodation was not made and officer had to spend the night on the station. No information related to the security arrangements were also shared by the police.

The chief secretary stated, “You’ll appreciate that this is an extremely serious matter. I would request you to kindly get the matter inquired and take appropriate action against the erring officials.
