Elior in talks with food tech brands for B2C operations

Elior India managing director Sanjay Kumar said the company has outpaced industry growth in food services, and that it plans to touch sales of $100 million in India by 2020.

The contract catering market in India is valued at $3.3 billion, clocking growth of 16%, and comprises of over two million organised caterers, according to industry estimates.
NEW DELHI: Contract food catering and support services provider Elior said it will extend operations from the business-to-business space to include a consumer-facing business. For the same, Elior will soon launch a business-to-consumer food services arm, a company official said.

Elior India managing director Sanjay Kumar said the company has outpaced industry growth in food services, and that it plans to touch sales of $100 million in India by 2020. Compass and Sodexo are the other two significant contract catering operators in the country.

The contract catering market in India is valued at $3.3 billion, clocking growth of 16%, and comprises of over two million organised caterers, according to industry estimates.

The Elior group, which entered India three years back owns majority stake in Chennai-based CRCL and acquired Bengaluru-based Megabite Food Services. The company said post-acquisition, its customers include Daimler, Pfizer, Godrej, Goldman Sachs and Cisco.

Elior which extended operations to Delhi and Hyderabad earlier this year, said in a statement that it has eight central kitchens in India.
