Now you can chat and consult with doctors on this app
The app has nearly half a million users, about 35,000 doctors and clinics in major cities, and four insurers.
In the final year, they started an online platform to connect residents of Pilani with specialists. The model enabled people to have video consultation with a psychologist or a counsellor.
Ride hailing and online food delivery had just taken off, and the four friends sensed an opportunity in helping people access a wider range of healthcare services on an app. Similar ventures had worked in China, Indonesia, the US and Britain. The four pooled money they had earned from internships to develop Visit Health app in 2015 with the aim of connecting patients and doctors across the country.
But it was not plain sailing. The first test was to get doctors on board, said Anurag, co-founder and head of product. Many were reluctant to get listed on the app, which has an AI-powered chatbot, for consultation and Visit Health team started to exhaust its funds.
The startup made a presentation before MapMyIndia CEO Rakesh Verma, who agreed to fund the venture even though the app was not fully ready. After studying the market, the founders tweaked their business model, adding OPD insurance and cashless consultations to the app’s list of offerings.
Everything was in place — except revenue. In November 2016, the firm got its first major client, the Times Group. More corporate houses gradually signed up to enable their employees to use the app.
In June 2017, the app caught the attention of Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and Rohit Bansal and Kunal Bahl of Snapdeal. Visit Health has raised $1.4 million to date.
The app has nearly half a million users, about 35,000 doctors and clinics in major cities, and four insurers. Over 40 business houses are among its clients. Anurag expects the number of doctors and subscribers on the platform to grow to 1.2 lakh and 1 million, respectively.
The team has realised that Visit Health cannot be just a curative app; it has added preventive healthcare features such as monitoring of vitals, physical activity, diet and other parameters. Many people now use it as a fitness tracker.
“Whenever people think of their family doctor, we want them to come to our app, book an appointment and use the platform as a channel for cashless OPD,” Anurag said.
