Steelcase, the leading global brand in innovative workplace solutions, furniture, and technology products, officially opened its new worklife center in Indiranagar, Bengaluru recently. The new home for Steelcase in India is strategically located to allow easy access from the Central Business District and areas with the highest concentration of startups, architecture and design firms, and other creative industries, offering customers a world of inspiring ideas and new workplace experiences to help them drive staff engagement and business performance.

The opening of this new Worklife Center in Bengaluru comes at a time when leaders and organizations in India are focused on staying ahead in the disruptive economy.

“The ecosystem of information technology and enabled services happens to be in Bangalore. It is the breeding ground for organisations like Steelcase to be here, talk to decision makers and grow the brand. Our worklife center will serve as a platform for our customers to experience our innovative workplace solutions surrounding people, place and technology, helping them create a new kind of work space and culture that will lead to better employee experiences and support their business growth,” says Praveen Rawal, Managing Director of Steelcase India, SARRC and Design Application APAC.

Rawal sees the evolution of startup ecosystem and co-working spaces as a huge opportunity in Bengaluru for the global brand. “Space is the body language of an organization. How you build your space defines how you are and what you think. When we talk about empowering startups, we are talking to them about new ways of working, new ways of collaboration. Our concepts, products and knowledge around the workspaces really help them get off faster from where they are at this stage. We are going to be deploying all of those applications in India. The new worklife center will act as a catalyst to work with the new startups,” said Rawal at the launch of their new center in the ‘Silicon Valley of India’.

Spanning over 12,740 square-foot space, the worklife center occupies a modern, four-storey standalone building featuring a double-height glass façade and an outdoor terrace. The design of the worklife center celebrates teamwork as the dominant mode of work today, demonstrating regionally relevant applications of Steelcase’s furniture and solutions. Steelcase is a publicly traded company with fiscal 2019 revenue of $3.4 billion.

Steelcase has been in India for around 15 years now with centers in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru and plants in Pune. The premium office furniture major plans to launch worklife centres in six to seven major cities in India including Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai in the near future.
