IT biggies in race for government contract to supply tablets for surveys
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Wednesday said that the tablets procured will be “used for data collection in the field under the Generalized Survey Solution (GSS) project”.

Synopsis

The project is part of the National Program for Improving the Quality of Statistics in India, that the World Bank is financing to strengthen and modernize India's statistical system for timely, relevant and high-quality statistics.

NEW DELHI: At least 15 IT majors and OEMs including Acer India, Hitachi Systems Micro Clinic, Lenovo India, LG Electronics, Microsoft, Panasonic, Samsung India and Vodafone are in the race for a government contract to supply 4,510 tablets for data collection of India’s all socio-economic household and establishment surveys.
