Synopsis

Several right-wing accounts took to Twitter calling for a ban of the social media platform in India unless it reinstated the True Indology account and explained its reasons for suspending it.

Can a Twitter spat between two accounts over firecrackers rile users enough to call for a ban of the microblogging platform itself? It seems so. On Wednesday, an anonymous Twitter account called True Indology (@TlinExile), which posts content on Indian history, culture and civilisation and had more than 100,000 followers, was suspended.Shortly after, an Instagram account with the same username alleged that Twitter sent no email before suspending
